The Mining Commission was established in accordance with Section 21 of the Written Laws (Miscellaneous Amendments) Act No. 7 of 2017.
On 17 April 2018, Hon. President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli, appointed the Chairman and Commissioners for Mining Commission in accordance with the Act.
In order to carry out its obligations, the Commission held its first session on 30 April 2018 in Dodoma and, among other things, the Commission resolved and has published its minutes dated 11 May 2018.
