The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been disbanded by the Presidential Order on 15 May 2017 and its properties, employees and activities shall be moved to the Dodoma Municipal Council. This is in order to avoid confusion and conflicts in the provision of services to members of the public between the CDA and Dodoma Municipal Council.

Please note:

  1. To encourage more investment in in Dodoma, all 33 year title deeds issued by CDA shall be altered to 99 years (as in usual other parts of the country).
  2. Interested parties are advised to approach the Dodoma Municipal Council to change their title deeds as soon as possible.

By way of background, President Julius K Nyerere  (first President of the United Republic of Tanzania) announced in October 1973 that the national capital would be transferred from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma to generate significant social and economic benefits to the country. The CDA was established in April 1978 and charged to build Dodoma. In July 2016 President John Magufuli (the current and fifth President of the United Republic of Tanzania) announced that the long awaited move from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma will to take place and the move started in September 2016; and still on-going.
